Zambian IVCMEP Students Visited Hokkaido, Japan

2022.10.6

From 18th to 29th July 2022, our programme (IVCMEP) has received four master’s students from the University of Zambia. This year, students came from the faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Public Health, and Natural Sciences. During their nearly two-week stay, students have attended the lectures and seminars at Hokkaido University, visited Institute for Raptor Biomedicine Japan in Kushiro and Shiretoko National Park to learn about ecosystem and wildlife conservation. They also had an opportunity to observe environmental conservation efforts at the former mining site: Toyoha Mine. In addition to those trips, students had intensive 2-day laboratory visit and conducted experiments, and acquired unique field research techniques. A laboratory visit was organized to suit each student’s research interest.

They had shown exceptional enthusiasm for learning about Japanese culture, especially for the language and food. We have high hopes for our programme participants to play an active role in strengthening our bonds with Zambia.
