International Symposium “Interdisciplinary Challenge; Mine and Environment” was held.

On August 16th and 17th, the international forum aiming to find a good balance between developing mine and environmental conservation, “Interdisciplinary Challenge; Mine and Environment” was held in Lusaka, Zambia.
(Sponsorship: JICA, Joint sponsorship: JSPS, JST, IVCMEP). There were 180 participants onsite and 81 participated online.
The forum featured the research outcome of Kabwe Mining Pollution Amelioration Initiative: KAMPAI, one of the SATREPS projects that took place between 2017 to 2022.
There were also presentations on the effects of metal contamination as well as its countermeasures by the University of Zambia, Hokkaido University, and environmental consulting agencies. Experts from Veterinary Science, Engineering, Agriculture, Economic and Health Sciences and Zambian government administrator gathered to discuss the current lead contamination in Zambia and the policy measures required to combat this challenge.
